WeddingPhotography Tip 001 :: Viewing the complete wedding

Many times when couples meet with me, they are very excited to see my albums and portfolios but forget to ask to see any examples of a complete wedding shoot. Most Wedding photographers love to show their best work, however they don’t have available examples of proofing books from a wedding. Why is this important? Seeing the wedding photographers proofs will provide a realistic view of the photographer’s complete work. Most photographers shoot digital now so it is quite easy to show 2 or 3 complete weddings either on a computer monitor or hard copy. This is as strong as providing testimonials because it will expose any weaknesses or concerns you have with their approach or overall quality.

I still remember the grueling process my wife and I had when choosing our photographer. It amazed me how many of these “Wedding Photographers” didn’t have their proofs available when we asked. There was no way we were going to invest thousands of dollars for someone to capture our story without seeing examples of complete weddings.

Remember, every image doesn’t have to be perfect but the overall work must show the value of what your willing to spend.

Next Tip: choosing the personality who will be shooting your wedding photographer

  1. Excellent suggestion!

  2. This is a great idea! We show one of our proof books (complete wedding) at our consultations and find it to be our most powerful sales tool. It lets us walk through how we shoot the wedding day, and lets the bride see our style not just our top 50 images.

If you are curious we use Blrub books. Here is a partial sample. http://www.blurb.com/books/545314
